Sundance Film Festival Weekend

Had a blast this weekend up in Salt Lake City at the Sundance Film Festival that runs till the 29th. We had a fabulous dinner at The Wild Grape in the avenues. Daily house made Gnocci in a spinach sauce with a wild Grape Salad DELICOUS!

I was in LOVE with the local fresh produce, local meats and cheeses they use at The wild Grape. My favorite was the Goat cheese panna cotta with citrus and raspberries was super yummy it had a unique  cheesecake texture.

we headed over to a sold out Indonesian film The Raid to wait in the will call wait list line and some how were sold tickets by people walking in with extra tickets. We were at the end of a super long line we would have never got in we really lucked out.

The Raid Sundance 2012: The Raid Movie Review

LOVED this Spotlight film even though it was the most bloody show I have seen in a while if not the goriest ever. I am usually not in to that style of film it was the clean camera work and a lot of intense action shots that made me into it. The plot was good a little predictable as the story unfolds. The cast was great and I really enjoyed having the Director and Cinematographer for Q&A after the film. It is one my favorite part of the fest seeing the creative minds behind these artistic films. Distributor Sony already has decided to produce an American remake of the film, but see this violent, stylish original before it is remade.

The Cast:

  • Director/Screenwriter: Gareth Huw Evans
  • Cinematographer: Matt Flannery
  • Starring: Iko Uwais, Doni Alamsyah, Joe Taslim, Yayan Ruhian, Ray Sahetapy, Verdi Solaiman, Ananda George

Synopsis:

Early one morning, an elite trained Indonesian SWAT team invades a tenement building to capture a ruthless crime lord.  But when their operation takes a turn for the worse, their mission becomes less about capturing their target, and more about surviving the brutal operation at hand.
